Welcome to the Indianapolis Civic Theatre Blog!

Greetings.

My name is Brent Marty and I am the Director of Music and Education at Indianapolis Civic Theatre. I am also the Musical Director for our upcoming production of the ground-breaking musical, WEST SIDE STORY!

You are reading the first in a series of postings that I will be making as we rehearse and prepare for our opening on March 13th and then as we proceed through the run of the show. The blog will consist of my own personal observations as well as "mini-video-interviews" with cast, crew, artistic staff, etc... who will offer their own unique perspectives and experiences.

This blog will also become a regular feature on our website and will be updated for each production in our season.

So, stay tuned and get ready for a glimpse backstage at Indianapolis Civic Theatre!

  1. All of your hard work really paid off. I became a fan of the West Side Story at age 10 when my mom introduced me to the movie. About a month ago, I introduced it to my 7 and 9 year olds. They instantly fell inlove with it. We bought the soundtrack and they learned all of the songs. I took them to see it today. They were speechless! The cast was outstanding! The orchestra was also amazing. Thank you so much for working hard and for bringing this amazing production to Indianapolis. Mambo!

  2. Thanks, Teresa! So glad you got to see the show and bring your children. I love to hear stories of parents who expose their kids to the arts -- kudos to you!

I hope you will come back and see more shows at Civic - and keep checking the blog for updates. I'm hoping to get some of the cast to write in...

  3. This surely was a classy production. The entire cast was fun to watch and the voices were impressive. The stage was equally impressive. I've seen several productions of the West Side Story and this one ranks at the very top! Hats off to the folks in the orchestra pit!
